January Heat Wave

Normally this time in Boston (January) it's freezing cold and there are mounds of snow all around. Today was the opposite. I looked out the window and the sun was shining, there was little to no snow on the ground. I still put on my coat thinking, the sun is not going to fool me. Well, I was fooled. IT WAS SO WARM! It felt like a sweet spring day and I was pretty happy. I knew that I had to go for a run in this weather. After class and getting stuff for my guitar (another passion I have besides running) I put on my clothes and was out the door. I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts. That's odd at this time of year.

I ran across the BU Bridge and along the Charles River on the Cambridge side, then crossed over at Mass. Ave. and continued home on the Esplanade. Everything was so amazing. The weather was nice and I was running along a slightly frozen Charles river. I was happy. I am happy.

I was glad to run away for awhile today because I had a lot on my mind and then it cleared away. It was just me and the run. It gave me the motivation to keep moving forward. I even smiled when I saw some paint on the ground of a turnaround bridge/pathway that said, "smile :)". Whoever did that, I want you to know, you made my day a little brighter!

It's going to be a good semester and a good year. One of my resolutions is a constant reminder: KEEP RUNNING.

(Here are a few photos I took when I was on my run. Sorry they aren't the best quality.....it was my phone. Also, I took at least a picture of proof that there still is some snow around)

Winter + Break

Just a quick update. I went running a couple times while home in Utah for my winter break. It was really nice and although it was cold outside, it was refreshing.

My stomach hurt on two of my runs. The first time I just walked a little bit and then once the pain passed, I ran the rest of the way home. The second time was not so good. I decided to walk because I knew the pain was coming, but this time I felt a little like throwing up and passing out. I was worried because it was the day I decided not to bring my phone. Nice. Luckily I made it home fine, but the next time I ran, I took my phone.

After that experience I didn't really run (sad I know), but I did work out at home sometimes. The last time I ran at home was really nice. My stomach didn't hurt and it was a great way to start my day (and essentially end my break).

Now I am in Boston for my last semester of college (yup, I made it all the way to Senior year running). I hope to run a lot more because over the break I wish I had run more because I needed the relief and help mentally. Breaks are nice, but sitting around is not. Running really helps me focus and have energy, so I need to remember that to get through the semester. Plus, I don't want to be lazy for my last semester!

I want to graduate with a smile on my face, love in my heart, and an energized mind.

Most of all though, I want to go out RUNNING.
