Reuniting With Outdoor Running

Today I made the decision to run outside. I was thinking of saving my outdoor run for Friday, but today was too beautiful to pass up the opportunity. And I remember that I made a goal of not making up excuses. So after a nice nap, I got ready and went running outside. It was a bit colder, but still so nice. I ran along the Charles River on the Esplanade. I was happy. I finally reunited with outside running and it's exactly what I needed. Today I ran away from life a bit. I wanted to stop thinking about what I was doing with my life and stressing. Rather, I just wanted it to be me and my run. I was tempted to turn on my pedometer to see how far I went, but today was just for enjoyment, not competition.

So, I turned on my music and I enjoyed the beauty around me. I don't know the exact the distance I ran, and I am not sure of how my time was, but what I do know is that I felt absolutely wonderful the whole time. There were few people around and I even stopped at points to take pictures (even though I only had a phone).

The pictures included are what I see as I run. I was smiling often. How could I not be happy with this around me? I love running along the Charles. It brings so much peace and beauty to my life. And I was able to think about a few things as I ran.

Running outside.....it's been awhile, but I am glad you are back in my life. :)
